A second chance. A helping hand. A New Beginning

A jail-to-job program in Campbell County, Tennessee.
Changing the direction of lives in our community.

What We Do

The Problem

In Campbell County, Tennessee, a skilled workforce is lacking due to rampant drug abuse and insufficient training. The local jail recently required millions of dollars of expansion due to increased incarcerations. Once released, the previously incarcerated are very likely to return to jail due in part to struggles finding employment and training. It’s a vicious cycle of addiction and incarceration.

Our Mission

To provide a compassionate job and training program for previously incarcerated Campbell County citizens who are willing to take responsibility for themselves, teaching them to make viable choices while striving for success in all aspects of their lives.

Our Vision

To employ or help job-place hundreds of previously incarcerated Campbell County citizens who change the direction of their lives through the support and training of A New Beginning, ultimately reducing the recidivism rate and increasing the skilled workforce.

The progress

Since the first participant began the program in August 2017, A New Beginning has seen a lot of growth

LIVES CHANGED

“A New Beginning is not rehab. It is a job and training program for individuals who are ready to change the direction of their lives. It is a second chance at living a successful and fulfilling life as a responsible employee and citizen. We’re helping them realize their potential outside the harmful lifestyle they were living. We show them a new job, a renewed purpose, a new life.”

-Tony Simpson, Founder

I have hope and a future: What our participants are saying

“When I was dealing drugs, it seemed like my only option to do that. And it just did because I couldn’t find a job anywhere else. I’m thankful I’ve been given another chance. I don’t want to squander that.”

Brandon

A New Beginning Graduate

“I didn’t have a future. I didn’t have hope… My experience with A New Beginning has changed my outlook on my future. It’s given me hope. Its given me a career to look forward to.”

Brandon

A New Beginning Participant

“There wasn’t hope for the future as far as a job goes. There’s hope for the future now. I can leave here with a trade, something no one else would give me the chance to do.”

Austin

A New Beginning Participant

“My future wasn’t too bright. For me, I really didn’t have many opportunities after 12 years of prison. A New Beginning gave me a chance… Some of the worries I had the last time I was in jail were: ‘Am I going to be able to find a job? Am I going to be able to get on my feet and get things situated to where my living conditions are good and I don’t end up back in jail?’ Another concern was that I didn’t want to end up back on drugs, and part of having the escape away from that was being able to have a good job that could keep me grounded and keep me focused.”
